Thread repair kits include helical inserts / screw thread inserts, a type of coiled wire that functions as a kind of thread repair insert, enabling you to accommodate fasteners or other elements. Some are made from stainless steel, while others are made from bronze.

Our thread repair kit includes an inserting tool as well as the wire thread insert, and a special STI tap. You can use this kit to repair or strengthen an internal thread that can be used to hold a screw or stud.

The thread repair process is for existing damaged internal threads. This will come in handy if the workpiece is not easily replaceable.

Wire thread inserts are also widely used in the electrical, medical, and aerospace industries as a preventive measure to reinforce and protect threads.

The installation process using a thread repair kit from V-COIL is simple:

Damaged thread → Drill → Tap → Insert → Break tang → Check

1. Drill
   Drill out the damaged thread using the correct drill size to prepare the hole for the new insert.
2. Tap
   Use the tap to cut a new thread into the prepared hole. This creates the thread that holds the insert in place.
3. Insert
   Fit the thread insert onto the insertion tool and screw it into the newly tapped hole until it sits slightly below the surface.
4. Break the Tang
   Once the insert is installed, break off the driving tang using the appropriate tang-breaking tool.
5. Repair Complete
   The damaged thread has now been restored and is ready to accept the original bolt or screw.
