How to Choose Your Drill Chuck? 3 Important Questions
1. Is it a key or keyless chuck?
The key chuck has a specific hole for the chuck key, so you must buy according to that model. Keyed drill chucks come with a chuck key to tighten and loosen the jaws, while keyless drill chucks are tightened and loosened by hand.
2. What is your chuck capacity?
Chuck capacity means how big can the mouth open. The larger the capacity, the larger a drill shank it can fit. Most customers often choose our popular products listed above as they have a larger capacity.
3. What is your chuck mount?
The chuck mount is the hole behind the chuck. There are different standards for this mount as the chuck will be fitting into other accessories before being inserted into the machine.
For example, drill chuck taper has a slanted mount, while threaded drill chucks may have a straight mount.
Most customers will find this confusing, so you can contact us if you need help on identifying which drill chuck has the right mount for your application.

Product Questions
What are industrial drill chucks?
Our industrial drill chucks are precision-engineered chucks designed to securely hold drill bits and other cylindrical-shank tools for demanding professional and machine-tool applications. They can be keyed or keyless, and are designed to provide greater accuracy, gripping force, durability, torque capacity, and reliability for industrial use.
Our drill chucks are part of our extensive range of precision engineering tools and accessories.
What are our industrial drill chucks used for?
The drill chucks we supply / distribute are engineered for applications for different levels of duty, precision, torque, and operating conditions. They are commonly used on drill presses, bench and pedestal drilling machines, milling machines, CNC machining centres, production drilling equipment, and other stationary or industrial machine tools.
Do you sell drill chuck arbors?
Yes, we sell different drill chuck arbors to fit different drill chucks with different mount standards (e.g. Jacobs Taper, DIN 238 “B” Taper, and Threaded Mounts).
We carry Morse Taper (MT), RT Taper and Straight Shank Drill Chuck Arbors, which can fit depending on the spindle of your machinery.
If you already have the drill chuck or drill chuck arbor, but not the other, you can contact us and we will find the right product for you.
What is the difference between a keyed and keyless drill chuck?
Keyed drill chucks use a chuck key to tighten and loosen the jaws (so you’re likely to buy the chuck with a key), while keyless drill chucks are a self tightening process tightened and loosened by hand. Currently, keyed drill chucks are still more conventional than keyless drill chucks.
Do you sell drill chuck keys separately?
Yes. If you lose your drill chuck key, we sell the keys individually. We will need the model of the Drill Chuck in order to identify the appropriate chuck key for you.
Can you identify the drill chuck I need from a drill chuck key?
If you only have the drill chuck key, we are unable to determine the chuck from it.
What happens if I don’t have the drill chuck or arbor?
If you have a drill chuck arbor but need a drill chuck, bring or show us your arbor and we can help you find the right chuck to fit.
If you have a drill chuck but need an arbor, bring or show us your chuck and we can help you find the right arbor to fit.
Why choose drill chucks from Jacobs Chucks & LFA?
Chan Man Lee partners only with manufacturers that consistently deliver high-quality, durable products that our customers can rely on. Among our carefully selected drill chuck brands are Jacobs and LFA, both trusted names in the industry.
In particular, Jacobs is a very renowned brand, and many of the drill chucks used by companies today were invented by Arthur Irving Jacobs. You may recognise the Jacobs Taper (JT), which is a very common mount standard that was also invented by Jacobs.
Some of our drill chuck accessories are also supplied by SOLAR Tools, with products manufactured to JIS, DIN, and BS standards and subject to strict quality control.
